Fair Lawn, New Jersey High School Rally; What You Need To Know

FAIR LAWN, N.J. (WUNF) — Adi Vaxman, a rally organizer says she met with the Fair Lawn Police Department to discuss the rally planned in front of the High School Sunday.

The police will be present according to Vaxman to ensure the safety of everyone involved in the rally. “They have assured me they are not aware of any dangers, threats or indications of escalation.”, Vaxman says.

Vaxman says “Everyone is requested to park in the back parking lot and walk to the front of the school; The FLPD will mark an area with the circular driveway in the front to hold the gathering.”

She says that the gathering is for one purpose which is “to show support to the FLHS administration and staff in doing their job according to NJ HIB (anti bullying) law to protect our children from cyber bullying without fear of criticism, media harassment or other persecution.”

Vaxman says that the gathering is not political, not about freedom of speech or any other agenda. She warns participants that they can not wear or bring any flags from other nationalities, political propaganda or other materials that “may distract from this purpose and provoke violence of any kind.”

Vaxman says that if anyone would like to bring a sign she says “please make sure it only refers to supporting the FLHS, anti bullying laws and actions.

Vaxman also says “that if you are there for any other purpose than the one of this gathering – you may be shut down by the police department as we only have permission to use the property and arrangements with the FLPD to ensure the safety of a quiet, peaceful gathering supporting the school and HIB laws.”

She says that she does not want anyone to bring any megaphones or other similar devices since according to her it will be a quiet gathering.

No speeches or addresses are planned according to Vaxman.

The rally is planned for 2 p.m. in front of the school.

UNF News Reporter Kyle Mazza will be on-site providing updates on the rally and this situation as it unfolds.
