CALDWELL, N.J. (WUNF) — On Monday, April 11th at 3:07 p.m. Authorities attempted to serve two arrest warrants out of Glen Ridge at 79 Bloomfield Avenue in Caldwell.
While attempting to serve the warrants, the suspect, identified as Michael Rosiak 58-years-old of 79 Bloomfield Avenue in Caldwell, allegedly opened the shades to the front door and verbally threatened to kill the officers while tapping a large knife on the window of the front door. Rosiak then allegedly yelled at the officers stating he had something for them inside.
Officers secured the immediate area with a perimeter and removed all civilians from that zone to ensure their safety. Officers attempted phone contact with Rosiak several times who refused to exit his residence according to officials.
The New Jersey State Police TEAMS Unit was requested to respond and assist with the barricaded subject. The NJSP TEAMS Unit responded and took Rosiak into custody at 6:23 p.m.
Michael Rosiak was charged with multiple criminal offenses and transported to the Essex County Correctional Facility. The Caldwell Police Department said in a statement that they thanked everyone for their patience while Bloomfield Avenue was closed between Mountain Avenue and Elm Road for the duration of the incident.
