FAIR LAWN, N.J. (WUNF) — On Tuesday, January 12 at 1:38pm, Officer Chris O’Shaughnessy stopped Jose Malave, age 37 of Haledon, walking on Route 208 southbound and arrested him after an arrest warrant for $159 was located out of Clifton.

Two detectives, while checking that side of the highway and adjoining backyards for possible proceeds of a crime in the area, looked over a fence attached to a residence on Eberlin Drive and observed a person running from the yard.

Believing that they had observed a burglary in progress, the detectives hopped the fence and stopped the vehicle he climbed into in front of the residence.

Scott Marcoux, age 21 of Hawthorne, who was the driver, the passenger and person observed behind the residence who was identified as, Malik Contee, age 20 of Fair Lawn, were both arrested after marijuana and a digital scale was located inside the vehicle.

After questioning, it was discovered by authorities that they were at the residence to claim the marijuana and scale from the rear of the residence, where it was being stored.

Malave, whose arrest was determined to have nothing to do with the drug arrests, was charged with bail jumping. Bail was set at $2,500 and he was sent to Bergen County Jail.

Marcoux was released after being charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Contee was charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession with intent to distribute marijuana within 500 feet of a public park, possession of a controlled dangerous substance & possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail was set at $30,000 and he was released after bail was posted.
