WASHINGTON, DC (WUNF) — Monday, January 1st starts the New Year of 2018. This article looks back on President Donald J. Trump’s first year in office and breaks down the President’s campaign promises.
Many of President Trump’s promises have been fulfilled, for example, President Trump said that he would place a lifetime ban on White House officials lobbying for a foreign government. This promise was kept.
President Trump also promised that he would slash federal regulations. The 45th President of the United States Donald J. Trump has kept this promise as well. The President has now made it a requirement that for every new federal regulation, two existing regulations must be eliminated.
Some promises that the President made during the campaign are a work in progress. For example, one campaign promise that the President is working on and has not forgotten about is renegotiating NAFTA.
The President has said that he will attempt to renegotiate NAFTA for a better deal, however the President has also indicated that if there is not a better deal he will terminate NAFTA. President Trump is keeping his promise of renegotiating by having more talks in January of 2018.
Another promise that the President has kept is his pledge to keep Guantanamo Bay or known as GITMO open.
Of course what will be remebered is the President passing historic tax reform. Tax Reform was one of the biggest promises from the President and not only was Tax Reform passed, it was signed in-to law before Christmas which the President promised.
Manufacturing jobs are increasing and the stock market is growing. All eyes are now on 2018 which it is expected that President Donald J. Trump will continue to shock the world.
