TYSONS, VIRGINIA (UNF NEWS) – A police officer shot and killed a man near the Bloomingdale’s store at Tysons Corner Center and the man was shot in the upper body in the 8100 block of Fashion Boulevard. Police Chief Kevin Davis held a news conference on Wednesday night and said that loss prevention officers at the mall called the Fairfax County police about a theft that was in progress. Chief Kevin Davis said that officers responded and approached the suspect, who fled and then the man subsequently was chased on foot by officers from inside the mall to a small wooded area across from the parking lot. The police chief said that both officers fired at the suspect in the wooded area and it is under investigation why that transpired. At this time, it is not yet known if the suspect was armed.
