Four People Reported Shot; Child Dead In Newark, New Jersey Wednesday Evening

NEWARK, NEW JERSEY (UNF NEWS) – Four people including a child were shot in Newark, New Jersey Wednesday evening, May 3, 2023. The child was pronounced dead after being shot. One adult is also dead. The suspect was reported shot by police. The Essex County Prosecutors Office and the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office are investigating the shooting. The shooting happened on Johnson Avenue and the crime scene also includes the areas of Elizabeth Avenue and Watson Avenue. No information was immediately available from the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office or the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office. The scene is very active as of 10:00 PM Eastern Time Wednesday evening. Investigators are on the scene at this time figuring out the chain of events.
